drill 操練/機械式練習

  drill:意即操練或機械式練習。源自聽說教學法的教學活動(ALM,Audiolingual Method),即是讓學生反覆練習某一個相同的發音、重音及句型,透過不斷地覆誦而後熟練學習重點。通常,操控式練習會由老師先提供一個詞或句子做提示,接著學生做跟讀、替換或轉換練習。雖然,此教學法因為其枯燥乏味的練習,且無法訓練學生於課堂外有良好的溝通能力,而為人詬病。但drill仍是許多老師在語言教學練習發音和句型時常用的方法,因為「知道新語言如何用」和「真正能用」中間仍有一段過渡期,而透過drill的方式可讓學生具備紮實的基礎,幫助他們學習新語言和記憶。常見的操練練習有以下三種:

 1. 替換練習(substitution dill

   T: We bought a book. (pencil)/ (ticket)
   Ss: We bought a pencil.
   Ss: We bought a ticket.


 2. 跟讀練習(repetition drill

   T: We bought a book.
   Ss: We bought a book.
   T: We bought a pen.
   Ss: We bought a pen.

 3. 轉換練習(Transformation drill

   T: I bought a book. (what)
   Ss: What did you buy?
   T: I bought a book. (do/does問句)
   Ss: Did you buy a book?

  其他的操練練習還包括:齊聲練習(Choral Drill)、個別練習(Individual Drill)、連鎖練習(Chain Drill)、逆向組句練習(Backward Build-Up Drill)、重述練習(Restatement Drill)、完句練習(Completion Drill)、擴展練習(Expansion Drill)等。
