Local crook Ralph Ember wants some art to elevate his gentleman's club; and he asks dodgy fine-arts dealer Jack Lamb to procure the art; meanwhile, Harpur and Iles want to lock up another stolen-art procurer, Basil Gordon Loam, and things soon start to get complicated all round., Harpur and Iles are drawn into the criminal element of fine art dealing when police informant and arts dealer Jack Lamb finds his collection the target of a small-time thief and a big-time crook.
