從封面開始，再一次陶醉於范恩兄弟的世界觀裡，捧著書調整不同角度反射光線，端詳映入視線裡的的銀光和虹彩，彷彿我也成了那些困惑又好奇的昆蟲一員，即便我知道那是再明顯不過的一顆玻璃彈珠而已。插圖以黑白色調呈現，烘托了彈珠（寶物/商品）和葉子（錢財/貨幣）才有的顏色，隨著構圖時近時遠，依然穩據視覺焦點。除了夾在其中的小氣泡，彈珠透視背景的部分也相當耀眼。書裡描繪的昆蟲姿態非常迷人又可愛，封面還有一隻帶著貝雷帽的「畢卡索蟲」，呼應了書裡的藝術成分。
