這是一本很可愛的小書，以一個正方形作為主角，說到正方形因為有四邊及四個角，讓他在移動時很不方便，總是撞得鼻青臉腫，傷痕累累。正方形心想，要是我能變成圓形，那該有多好啊！圓形可以自由自在地滾來滾去，愛去哪就去哪，不會摔倒撞傷。
 
但是，光是自怨自艾是沒有用的。正方形決定以更開闊的心胸和新的視角來看待自己的困境。他決定認真專注在生活，享受生活裡每一件微小的事所帶來的快樂，把握時光，活在當下。他享受著夏日裡的陣陣涼風。也欣賞海面上閃爍的粼粼波光。他用心感受著秋天裡太陽的溫暖。也仔細地觀賞著樹枝微微的擺盪。他的歡笑聲在空氣中飄揚，從來不間斷。因為不把自己的困境看得太嚴重，正方形反而不那麼沮喪了。他還是到處跌跌撞撞，但每一次的碰撞，都讓他尖銳的角磨得圓融一些。他也漸漸地改變了。有一天，正方形發現他的四個角不見了！他真的變成了圓形！同時，他也學會了一個道理：人生中所有的困難，總是會帶給我們歷練和成長。
 
封面設計也是一個趣味點，如果把視覺焦點放在書中央看，我們會看到的是一個圓形；但是如果把視覺焦點放大到看整個封面，我們會看到的是一個正方形，這個設計呼應了書名「我是個圓形的正方形」。圓形的鼻子化成一個類似OK蹦的造型，好像圓形傷痕累累，意味著圓形之前可是歷經了許多磨難，才能成就今天的形狀。這個小巧思的設計，讓這本書更加顯得溫馨勵志又可愛。
