此書系因應 2013 年啟動的CPE英語認證考試而做全新改版。包含 20 個單元，藉由各種具有挑戰性的主題做為授課素材，介紹 CPE 考試所有題型。練習題則根據「劍橋學習者語料庫」統計之常見錯誤設計而成，提醒並釐清應試者常犯的英文錯誤。內容設計不僅提供 CPE 答題技巧與建議，協助熟悉考試題型，更精進應試者聽、說、讀、寫四大英語力，做好全方位的應試準備。

新版學生課本內提供互動式軟體下載的連結網址，供使用者進行互動式軟體下載，內含考試技巧練習、文法與單字練習題、解答與錄音稿。


Objective Proficiency Second edition provides official preparation for the revised 2013 Cambridge English: Proficiency exam, also known as Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE). A variety of challenging, lively topics provide thorough training in exam skills and high-level language development.

Each unit contains three double-page lessons ensuring flexibility, even pacing and progress. Interactive software, downloadable from a URL contained in the Student's Book, provides activities for practice of exam skills, grammar and vocabulary. Exercises and examples tackle areas that Proficiency students often find challenging, identified using Cambridge's unique collection of real exam candidates' answers, the Cambridge English Corpus.
