有一群人默默守護城市正常運轉
在Covid-19籠罩全球的陰影下，孩子們從窗戶探出頭，驚訝地發現眼前的情景跟以往不同了！街道從以往的繁忙嘈雜，突然變得安靜下來，安靜到甚至讓人有點害怕。不過仔細看，路上還是有人活動。不只有為人們送來熱騰騰食物的外送員、為貨架補貨的物流人員，還有公車、地鐵的駕駛員將乘客送往目的地，消防員、警察、醫護人員也一直守護著大家，正是因為有這些人的存在，讓我們的城市得以繼續運轉。
雖然多數人只能困在家，但他們也沒有失去信心，每晚7點，他們敲打花盆、吹奏樂器，發出歡呼聲，讓所有聽到這些聲音的人知道「我們都在這裡」。儘管入夜後這些歡呼聲會消失，但大家都知道，內心的感激之情永遠都在！
曾以Locomotive《火車頭》一書榮獲凱迪克金獎的弗洛卡（Brian Floca）說，他希望透過這本新作品，讓那些仍受困在家裡的年輕讀者們放心，知道這世界仍在運轉，也希望讓他們了解這場災難代表什麼意義、為何會如此，以及這對我們彼此間的關係帶來什麼影響。弗洛卡說，每個人都有能力幫助別人，「我希望孩子們認識那些維持社會繼續運作的無名英雄，思考他們是誰，以及我們為何必須向他們致敬。」
