亞洛熱愛閱讀，有一天他坐在樹上看書，卻一個不小心讓書從手上滑落，還剛好砸在市長的頭上。市長一氣之下，宣布銷毀所有的書，這麼危險的東西，必須消失！
可是當這世界上沒有書，生活會變成什麼樣子？學校老師沒辦法講故事，於是故事時間只好變成午睡時間。廚師少了食譜可以參考，做出來的菜越來越單調乏味。就連劇院的演出也取消了，演員都不知道還能夠表演什麼……
